Village Voice: September
by Jeff Carr, Eagle Nest Mayor

It’s summer in Eagle Nest and there are always a lot of cool things going on. We started out August with EagleFest where we had a great turn out for the Music and Hot Air Balloon Festival, with great food, music, a NM National Guard obstacle course, beer, and wine. 30th Annual FishFest and the 4th Annual Pike Round-up will be September 22-25, 2022, at Eagle Nest Lake. The four largest Rainbow Trout caught are eligible for jackpots and the Largest Pike wins $1000. There will be daily door prize drawings. Tickets are $25 per person and are available at Eagle Nest Cabins and Marina, 28386 Hwy 64, Eagle Nest NM.
Several of our roads were given new coatings, our Senior Center Parking lot should be finished soon. We have delays, but hopefully we will have S. Tomboy, Lake Ave and Willow Creek Drive resurfaced soon .Our dumpsters are for residents who pay for this on their water bill. Business dumpsters will remain where they are, and we encourage businesses to lock their dumpsters.
Please cut your grass!
Free WIFI is being provided by Kit Carson’s EV charging station. It covers the entire Enchanted Eagle Park plus. The password is KCECev2022.
Eagle Nest Chamber of Commerce is back! The last two plus years of Covid and state restrictions caused a pause with The Eagle Nest Chamber of Commerce. They are happy to report that the Eagle Nest Chamber of Commerce has an elected interim board of business and community leaders. The first official meeting is being held this Wednesday August 31st 6:30 pm at Village Hall. They will be starting a membership drive focused on supporting local businesses and bringing more tourism to Eagle Nest. Fundraising for 2023 fireworks and event planning for 2023 will be a key focus for the Chamber. They will look at adding some new events possibly, such as Christmas in July and Oktoberfest. The Chamber believes 2023 will be a great year with fun events and entertainment in our wonderful mountain town. Please plan to attend upcoming meetings to learn more.
It is my wish that the Village’s Economic Development Committee will be working with the Chamber as well.
